Description
A pared-back counterpart to the Technician Shirt, the Lester draws from the same 1940s workwear foundation. This iteration removes the flap pockets, creating a more traditional button-down silhouette while retaining the balanced proportions and utilitarian spirit of the original reference.
Named for Lester, a painting by Jamie Wyeth at the Brandywine Museum, the style takes inspiration from the subject’s understated yet distinct shirt and features a pointed vintage collar, triangle side gussets, and shirring at the cuffs rather than pleats–a construction detail emblematic of pre-1940s work shirts.
Cut in plaid, a long-standing staple of both workwear and artists’ wardrobes, such as painters like Willem de Kooning. While plaid is typically rendered in cotton or wool flannel, it appears here in breathable Irish linen from Magee, offering structure with a lighter, more seasonally versatile feel.
